Thousands of Muslims gathered in the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. over the Labor Day weekend. They discussed dozens of issues in many dozens of sessions. One would be hard pressed to figure out which of those was the most significant one viz a viz its impact on our society. The Washington Post knew exactly which one: the matrimonial banquet! So, it covered it elaborately in the Metro section. That’s it. Nothing else mattered much. This is an interesting commentary on Muslim American life. What Muslims say or think doesn’t count. Let’s not bother with that.
